Autumn remodeling

Every fall I start getting the bug to redecorate a little--I think it's the fact that we return inside after a summer spent on the patio. There doesn't seem to be time this year for much besides new lamps and hanging a sweet little faux deer (yes! I finally have one! Thanks G's.), but I like living vicariously through Katie Ridder's inspiring interiors. I love the perfect balance between classic design utilizing gorgeous vintage pieces and rich color and clean, modern spaces devoid of too much clutter.

Solar lanterns

Searching for the perfect moss green lanterns tonight for an autumn wedding, and found these SOLAR powered lanterns that would be great in the garden. Made of nylon to be weather resistant, and it's just lovely that they don't need ugly cords or a power supply.

Real Weddings: Aaron & Amanda

Just a few shots from Joshua Gene Photography of Aaron and Amanda's recent wedding at Court in the Square here in Seattle. The orchid strands have been a big hit this summer--I love how the crystals we incorporated into these sparkled from the floating candles in the pond below. Amanda's fresh color palette of pale green and yellow with white and black accents was so crisp and clean.

I'll be posting more of these later, but wanted to share a few that Joshua had posted on his blog. Thanks for the beautiful photography Joshua!

(#18) Just a glimpse....

of a LOVE PARADE!!! When you're in the biz, you see a lot of the same ideas recycled, but this one is fresh and new! What a way to CELEBRATE! Photos by the lovely Heather Gilson at One Love Photo--one of the sweetest gals in Washington State, I swear. And she's got more details and pics of this craziness here, so go check it out if you're in the mood for a grin.

Recent pics

Dowloading CD's tonight so that we have some new music for the studio, and wading through some of the pics that have been sitting on the computer. Some recent-ish work...

A wedding at the Woodland Park Zoo rose garden, with a Dr. Suess tree in the background.

Green antherium, calla lilies, orchids and millet in birch bark at Ray's Boathouse.

Modern arrangements for a rehearsal dinner at The Black Bottle.

Gloriosa lily, blackberries, orange mokara orchids, and viburnum with "Tenga Venga" roses.

Hayes and I love to take self-portraits while waiting for something. A recent one from the eye doctor's waiting room. Teddy makes a cameo appearance in this one.

Turkish Tradition

A lovely twist on the bouquet toss that seems to be going out of vogue. So many brides have suffered through being singled out as being single enough times that they are sparing their friends that little moment of public prounouncement of their relationship status. So instead...

A lovely tradition from Turkey, via MSW.
"Try a who-will-marry-next tradition that Turkish brides have been practicing for generations. Before you start down the aisle, have your single bridesmaids (or any female friends or relatives who've yet to marry) autograph the sole of your bridal shoe. After you've danced the night away...legend has it that the person whose name has faded the most will be the next to marry."

(#17) Just a glimpse...

of an amazing collaboration...nature and art. And just one more reason to take care of the honey bee issue. (And really--when you're helping out by buying ICE CREAM, it's not that hard to do your part).

A tiny bit...

of last weekend's wedding. And a huge thank you to my delivery and set-up crew--you guys rock my world. Sarah, Sarah, and Katy--I don't have any pictures of you, but that must be because you were working so hard!

Remember the days of inspiring blog posts, lots of flowers, interviews with amazing people, and yummy recipes? Here's to hoping they'll be back by November. These are some crazy times people.

Wine country flowers

A few shots from the recent Napa trip. I love the loose "throw them in a vase with abandon" look of wine country flowers.

I had never considered a tuba as a vase before. Pondering the idea at Vine Cliff...

Lovely yellow and buff colored garden roses at St. Helena Olive Oil.

And a great idea from the olive oil joint...hay bales as a table base with a giant old door for the top.

Real Weddings: Shirley + Derek

Thought I'd emerge from the studio for a few minutes to share photos from a March wedding (I know! I'm a little behind!) that I did. Jen and Jody did a fabulous job on the photography, and I love the clean, crisp look of the white and green--it's so fresh!

Love these shots at Seattle's Gas Works Park. It's such a dramatic backdrop and Seattle institution!

You know I always love the dress shot! Doesn't the silk look so perfectly crinkly and soft?

The beautiful Lake Union Cafe, all dressed up for the party. Those chairs? The cutest leopard print velvet on the seats. I'm always amazed at how it seems to go with whatever wedding decor we're doing there!

No grooms allowed int the bride's dressing room!

We did several different centerpieces; one version was heavy glass dishes of black river rock, green floating orchids with ivory candles, and aqua ribbon.

A sweet little cake with white roses and green cymbidiums. Cake by Sharon's Cakes and Catering (she's a sweetheart to work with!)

Can't wait to share a few from this weekend soon! Peacock feathers, exotic varieties of orchids, gorgeous silver silk linens, blue crystals, and a bride that has become a good friend. Coming soon!
