A prescription for spring

What fun for spring! Great planters at Vitamin D(esign). I love the mod style and fabulous array of sunny colors. They come in three sizes to fit any space. Come on sunshine!

Real Weddings Contest

I'm sometimes a little down on The Knot (gasp! Its just that I find it a little overwhelming in the Nordstrom's Rack sort of way. Some great gems, but you have to look through so much other stuff to find them.) but thought I'd ease up a little today in honor of one of my very favorite brides ever. Katy Leiser is one of my rare "repeat" customers. Though I do get a lot of referrals from past brides, I usually don't get to work with them again on a wedding. However, I was fortunate to work with Katy when her sister-in-law Tara got married in 2006, and again for her own AMAZING wedding in 2007. I think I'll actually really miss her this summer--she is just so sweet and has an amazing sense of style.

So, back to the The Knot. Katy's wedding has been entered in The Knot's Real Wedding Awards 2007. Here is the picture of her bouquet that she chose to post:

Take a look at her other photos (and vote!) for some great inspiration. She planned her beautiful day in shades of vibrant "cymbidium" green and orange. It was pretty incredible--from her Amsale gown to the cutest ringbearers ever, from the lime green pomanders lining the aisle hung on black chiavari chairs to the green and white polka-dot cake. Hm. I think I'll have to do a "Real Wedding" post on it soon!

And, I'll even (grudgingly) concede that The Knot has come up with a great way to view a lot more real weddings that are inspirational. Enjoy!

A fabulous new blog...

You have to check out designer extrordinaire Michelle Rago's new blog. Though just started a week ago, it is already amazing. She is an extremely talented NYC designer that does full event design; lighting, flowers, linens, structures...basically the whole dang thing! I've always loved browsing through her website, and am so excited that we will have more frequent and current photos to swoon over. A few highlights from a recent post:

A hand-carved (!) chuppah, draped with white phaleonopsis and dendrobium orchids:

The ballroom set up for the same wedding (at The Breakers in Palm Beach) with some amazing lighting work.

Beautiful urns of hydrangea in blue and white. Amazing the impact that a single variety of flower can have, don't you think?

Michelle also is the author of a pretty fabulous book "Signature Weddings: Creating a Day Uniquely Your Own". It's worth checking out!

When I die...

this is the heaven I want to go to.

http://blogs1.marthastewart.com/martha/2008/02/feast-your-eyes.html

I'm always a fool for a gorgeous cake plate.

Every type of candlestick you could imagine...

And dishes in every shade.

So if I have to go...please, oh please, transport me here.

Sunny and Andy's wedding

Pictures from Sunny and Andy's wedding this past Saturday evening at the always fabulous Fairmont Olympic. Flowers were pale green and ivory with accents of bright fuchsia--so fresh and springy during dreary February!

Sunny's bouquet, a cylinder of submerged orchids, and personal flowers:

A close-up of the gorgeous cymbidiums, fuchsia calla lilies and viburnum in the bridal bouquet:

Ceremony site in the background, with willow "trees" entwined with Thai orchids and hanging candles for sparkle; centerpiece of cymbidiums in a cylinder surrounded by a wreath of more orchids and viburnum and white hydrangea.

A close-up of the trees we constructed of willows with orchids woven through.

The fabulous cake, by Creme de la Creme.
Congratulations to the very happy couple!

Soft, gorgeous spring!

I wanted to share some beautiful work done by Pam at housemartin/ink & peat.

A beautiful idea for those brides that want a soft, romantic look but just can't decide on one or two colors. This has so much depth and is like a beautiful peek at spring!
Bouquet has orange parrot tulips, privet berries, seeded eucalyptus, yellow Alexandra roses, Else sweetheart roses and peach hypericum berries.

Better late than never.

I know Valentine's is but a distant memory for many, but I can't seem to part with Hayes's first handmade holiday decor. Now it will live on forever here.

Urban Unveiled II

What a swanky soiree! Clare Marie Photography, Sharlane Chase Photography, and True Colors Events threw quite the bash last night.

A few of my faves:

A gorgeous bridesmaid dress from the Luly Yang couture show. Dress has shades of silver gray and pale blue, very vintage!

Lucite chairs at the True Colors table:

A sweet cake from Jen's Desserts:

As a veteran attendee of many bridal events, this was a stand-out!

Those gorgeous invites part II

Previously discussed letterpress invites? Further research revealed that they were done by the very talented duo at Little q Designs.

Simple joys

There are currenty four--FOUR!--shades of pink cymbidiums in the studio. Could life get any better?

Urban Unveiled

This is the first "Fresh Note" from the Fiore Studio...and I'm skipping an introduction today (I promise it will come later!) to show pictures of the gorgeous tickets for the Urban Unveiled show tonight. I've got one word people--LETTERPRESS! I think I'd love getting parking tickets if the city would start letterpressing them.

So if your Thursday evening is free, I have the perfect plan for you. Grab a girlfriend, do your hair, and head to Benaroya Hall. Couture fasion show (Luly Yang!), cocktails and hors d'oeuvres (Wolfgang Puck!), fabulous vendors...and then stop by the Wild Ginger for late evening snacks. Now thats a Thursday night!
