Fabulous and free!

Great new templates from MS Weddings that you can dowload for FREE. I particularly love the letters for making a banner. Perfect for any occasion! (I might make one that says "Welcome Jack & Lola").

week in review {June 28 edition}

Peonies & Polaroids has been working hard to bring you directions for those darling handmade birds she's been working on. Lovely directions and her sweet birdies are just stunning. Make 'em! Send her a picture! And while you are visiting her blog, also check out her newly finished invitations. I swear everything she touches turns out beautiful.

Paul loves beets. I love Paul. See Paul's beets. (Photo by Colin Cooke)

Perfect bound shared photos from a florist she was checking out--Modern Day Designs. Beautiful inspiration on their site!

I find something I love every single week on Please sir. Diana never fails to find amazing things, and this week was no exception. Love the great vintage finds from Retrouvius that she highlighted. Please sir, I'll take one of each!

All Things Bright and Beautiful intervied Constance from Rochambeau. Constance makes the most beautiful bags (for sale here), and I love this simple seasonal centerpiece of pears and garden roses. Sublime.

And didn't I warn you this week that peacocks and carnations were the hottest trends going? And then we see this tablescape on Elizabeth Anne Designs, put together by none other than one of my very favorite dress designers, Monique Lhullier of course. Featuring...peacocks and carnations. There you go. (Photos originally from House Beautiful)

Fly on over to flutter!

Flutter is a great Portland shop that describes itself as a delightful disaray of found objects and clutter...which really appeals to me, because this is exactly how I'd describe my house. They just launched an on-line boutique, and it's chock full of this wonderful clutter! While you're there, check out the "photos" section of the site for crazy gorgeous inspiration.

(#9) Just a glimpse...

of the hottest hose around. From Cynthia Rowley's "Whim" line for Target, and unfortunately, not available on-line. But worth a trip to the store, don't cha think? (If you do go, don't waste your time in the garden aisle. They are in the seasonal section. I don't want to instigate any wild goose chasing).

Who would have thought? That the '80's prom flower and get well cheapie...

(I can not believe I just posted that photo in my blog dedicated to beautiful flowers. I DID NOT make this bouquet! But it's a great example of the whole problem...)

would finally grow up into something so wondrous?

Yep! The hottest trend around? CARNATIONS people! Dense and ruffly, and dare I say CHIC? They just need to be used carefully--in luscious, full mounds, without even a hint of babies breath or baskets for miles. But then, I still can't think of any reason to have that dreaded duo of a train wreck around!

(#8) Just a glimpse...

Real Weddings: Sara + Jeff

A beautiful early spring wedding with flowers by Fiore Blossoms, fabulous photos by Azzura Photography.
Sara did such a beautiful job of planning the little details. Gorgeous paper, table markers with photos of their travels, and a tastefully carried out theme of cherry blossoms. She wanted to evoke the cherry blossom season in Japan, so we used dried petite rose petals from Flyboys Naturals on the table--they looked just like fallen blossoms. We also hung over 50 strands of white orchids from the ceiling of the Shilshole Bay Beach Club, reminiscent of the actual blossoms falling from the trees.
My favorite picture of the day...Sara and her bouquet of the palest pink peonies and pink cymbidium orchids.

Sara's bridesmaids also carried pink peonies, but in a slightly darker shade mixed with pink ranunculus.

Reception details. The tables had mounds of white hydrangea with blooming cherry branches and petite rose petals. Sara labeled the tables with cities that she and Jeff have visited.

And a sweet closing shot. Azzura does such an amazing job of capturing the day. To check out more of their work, drop into their new blog, The Azzura Cafe!

A little light reading

I'm always a sucker for everyday objects turned into floral sculptures...remember the outrageous hats? Currently loving these books made of galax, magnolia, birch and moss by Nina Glucksman for Jane Packer NYC.

Week in review {June 21 edition}

This week...

Found! Someone else that loves jellyfish! I did an internship at an aquarium one summer when I was in college, and my job was to create the new jellyfish exhibit. I've been a fan ever since. Check out this jellyfish inspired Alexander McQueen confection via Shop Friends (Cat Seto). She did several postings on her favorite sea creature last week.

Mod cakes. From Erica O'Brien, found here.

This little striped tuffet makes me happy. Thanks purple area.

Gorgeous yellow designs from Wiggy Flowers via Bride's Cafe. The stunning venue? The renovated Union Station right in my very own backyard. What a great table number idea too.

These ads from Black*Eiffel are just too fun. I'd love to be walking down the street and run into one of these. Unfortunately, I just always see the boring and creepy Geico gecko. Ick.

A bubble table. Who knew? From Stephanie Colgan via Snippet & Ink.

Hope you enjoyed these as much as I did!
