I walked past a garden this weekend with peonies in full, riotous bloom. Four shades of pink. Frilly and luscious. For a moment, I felt envy. But then I remembered that mine will have fragrant, tissue-paper thin petals; be the softest shade of rose with a lemon yellow pom-pom in the center; and be so abundant I'll share with all my neighbors.
It's worth the wait.
