Since we're on the subject...

of fabulous creations to place on your head, I wanted to show some gorgeous hair pieces from Leah C. Couture Millinery in New York. Just as a couture dress can be considered a piece of art as much as apparel, these one-of-a-kind creations are like little sculptures for your hair.

I really love that so many designs feature feathers. I have several brides this summer that have feathers on their dresses or are incorporating feathers into their bouquets or other design pieces. They are such an unexpected yet elegant touch with great texture.

From Leah C.'s website:

"Seeking to restore the prominence of the headpiece as an American accessory...Leah's designs are beautifully bold and distinctly elegant. They are statement pieces created for the woman with an established, well-honed sense of style who uses every occasion to express it." (Ooh--don't you want to be that woman?)

Pieces with color incorporated for the bridal party or as the perfect accessory for a cocktail dress:

Leah Chalfen is a millinery teacher at NYC's Parson's School of Design and has an impressive client list (Nicole Kidman, Rosario Dawson, Queen Latifah, Erykah Badu). Despite this, she works hard to maintain a small-scale boutique experience for each client, and does custom work as well.

And if you're not planning a wedding? Her site is full of fun fashion photos that make for great browsing!

The right accessory can really complete an ensemble (OK, you do need a gorgeous bouquet too!), and I think these exquisitely crafted pieces are just the thing to do it!
